Dr. J. B. Baird was appointed at yesterday’s meeting of the Wanganui Hospital Board, honorary eye, ear, nose and throat specialist to the hospital.
The death occurred yesterday of Mr, Fanny Elizabeth Hurley at her resi dence, in New Plymouth. Mrs Hurley was the mother of Mr T. Hurley, proprietor of the Imperial Hotel, Wanga nui, and Mr A. Hurley, also of Wan ganui. She was 70 years of age.
Guests registered at Foster’s Hotel include the following: Messrs O. U. Todd, R. V. McDowell, W. Anderson, J. H. Flowers and V. G. Braniff (Wellington); C. Linwood and Edgar Haydon (New Plymouth); J. S. Tingev (Feilding); T. H. McWilliams (Hawera).
Yesterday’s meeting of the Wanganui Hospital Board accepted with regret the resignation of Dr. W. Scannell as aural surgeon to- the Wanganui Hospital. It was decided to forward to Dr. Scannell, now practising in Christchurch, the board’s appreciation of his work while in Wanganui.
The following arc guests at the Rutland Hotel: Messrs W. J. Pritchard and C. F. Franklin (Auckland); E. J. Matthews (Palmerston North); J. L. Colqhoun (Wellington); Mrs D. P. Clarke (Hamilton); Mr and Mrs Hunt, Miss Hall and Miss Hunt (Wellington); Mr R. E. Robertson (Waiuku).
Mr W. E. Broderick was unanimously re-elected chairman for the next two years at yesterday’s meeting of the Wanganui Hospital Board. His reelection was moved by Mr C. W. Poynter and seconded by Mrs Siddells. Returning thanks, Mr Broderick said that if he continued in public life he could not wish to work with better associates than those at present on the board.
