WANGANUI'S ALLOCATION

RELIEF OF UNEMPLOYMENT Attention was drawn to newspaper reports regarding the allocation of money among country districts as compared with the cities, at a meeting of the Wanganui Unemployment Committee yesterday morning. The question was asked as to whether anything was being done to ensure that Wanganui was receiving a quota in accordance with its requirements.

“I can assure the unemployed that their interests are being looked after,” said Mr A. E. Halligan, (chairman. He stated that the Mayor, Mr N. G. Arm strong, and the city engineer, Mr J. 8. L. Deem, had left Wanganui that morning at 6 o’clock for Wellington to interview the Minister of Employment, the Hon. J. G. Coates, to ask that Wanganui given as big an allocation as possible.
