His Majesty’s brown colt Limelight (Pharos—Vervaine), carrying top weight, 9st. 51b., came through near the end of the Spring Thrce-year-old Stakes and scored cleverly by threequarters of a length from Basscnthwaite, who had made most of the running. He was at the outside price in the field of thirteen. His Majesty was not present to see the success, having deferred his visit to Newmarket till the First Spring (Guineas) meeting. Limelight was the first winner for the King since Brig-adier-General Tomkinson took over the Royal stable, and the General received many congratulations. The stable also supplied the third horse in the race, Lord Harewood’s Pickle the Spy, by Ellangowan. FORTHCOMING FIXTURES May 28. —South Canterbury J.C. June 1,3, 4. —Dunedin J.C.
