TO-MORROW’S MEETING MANY CHAMPIONS OUT DON EVANS COMPETING Champion runners and the pick of the cyclists from New Plymouth to Manawatu will be seen in action on Cook’s Gardens to-morrow afternoon and evening at the annual championship meeting of the West Coast (N. 1. Centre. Sub-centre championships held at Marton on Wednesday night showed that Wanganui will have a number of good men coming forward- Don Evans will be the star of the whole meeting, and will be an entrant in the quarter mile and the half mile. In the quarter mile S. A. Black, tho New Plymouth sprinter, has been doing well and is expected to shake tho pace along. In the 220 yards Black is regarded as good but T. Murray showed that he has a clean pair of heels when he covered an uphill 100 yards at Marton in 10 1-5 seconds. Cambie, Taranaki, will be also in the hunt. S. Lay, British Empire champion, will be competing, and Hansen, Tolley, Lawrence and Ross will be visiting cycle riders of note. Wanganui men will be on their own track and should give a far better account of themselves than they did at Marton. I. Lauvatu might easily better his exhibition jump at Marton of sft B>in. Of the ladies, Miss J. Greager and M. Attwell are expected to perform well. D. Sullivan, one of the Dominion’s foremost field events men, will be a competitor. Another who should de wel lis C. Doughty, Wanganui entrant.
