WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT TURAKINA The monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute was held in St. Andrew’s Hall on Thursday, February 4. There was a very good attendance. One new member was admitted, which brings the total membership up to 50. It was decided not to hold an election this year, as the club had been in existence for three months only. A hospitality committee of three, Mrs. Watt, Miss Knox and Miss Keshane, was elected, their duty being to meet the demonstrators ami see them safely away. Miss Crawford, from Palmerston, gave a very interesting demonstration of cream cheese making which was followed with keen attention by all present. At the conclusion a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Miss Crawford for her .interesting lecture. A scone-making competition for a prize donated by Mrs. J. Collens was won by Mrs. Gower. A bring and buy stall did good business during the afternoon. At the conclusion afternoon tea was dispensed, the hostesses being Mrs. Dowling, Mrs. Collens and Miss Cameron. At the next meeting the Rev. and Mrs. Lambert have kindly consented to give a demonstration of basket-
