TOWN BOARD MEETING The monthly meeting of the Bulls Town Board was held on Thursday evening. Present: Messrs J. E. Walker (cha’rnian), J. F. Flynn, G. D. Flower, C. C. Price and C. M. Broughton. The chairman welcomed Mr Broughton back to his old scat, and Mr Broughton briefly returned thanks for the compliment. Half-holiday.—This subject was not debated, the usual day, Wednesday, being unanimously retained. Rating.—A proposal to reduce the rates for next year was discussed, and finally the chairman, Mr Flynn and the clerk wcj-e instructed to go into the matter mid to reort before the rates arc struck in June next. Foren ar. Howard reported on work done for the month ending Jan. 13, as follows: —All main roads have been gradedo seven times with the county graded seven times with the county main roads. Concrete paths have been put down at Rev. Lane’s, Mr Ransom’s, and Mrs Broughton’s gate entrances. Was engaged carting greenery for Christmas decorations. Mineral turps has been put on weeds in Bridge Street. “Poached eggs” have been painted, and water sumps cleaned out. The sand bin on the Domain has also been cleaned. There have been 40 campers on the Domain during the holidays. Metal has been fallen and screened in pit. Relief workers have been engaged digging drains for piping from the Re. to the Town Hall; also preparing footpath in Lower High Street for concreting, grubbing weeds in Bridge and High Streets, and grubbing blackberry on the Domain. Correspondence was received as follows.—From R. Mackay, solicitor for the administration of the estate of A. J. Green, giving notice of sale oi property to L. S. R. Hillier.—Transfer approved. From the Main High ay Board, re fresh contracts and commit ments. —Received. From the Trans port Department, re regulation of transport services.—Received. From tho Highways Council, re reduction of amounts issued for maintenance. Ihe clerk was instructed to reply. Finance. —Accounts were passed for payment under the following headings: District fund, £125 13s; Übrary, £6 2s 2d. Collections for the month were as follows: Rates, £302 14s 9d; rents. £2l 13s; heavy traffic licenses, £3 8s; cemetery, £1 15s; Library, £5 2s 6d. Works Committee. —The following were appointed for the ensuing month: Messrs Holland, Flynn and Price. Domain Board The same members then sat as a Domain Board. Collections for the r onth totalled £9 Ils, and the following accounts were passed for payment: A. Hopwood and Co., Ltd., (wire. etc. . £l2 ss; Rangitikei Electric Power Board, £7 6s Bd. Inspector E.
