MAIL MATTER STOLEN
THEFT FROM TOST OFFICE [ Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, Nov. 25. Pleading guilty to breaking and entering a shop of H. Al. AlcGirr and stealing goods valued at £lO 8s 6d, and stealing 220 postal packets and letters from the To Aro Post Office, and to attempting to steal money and stamps, value £2, the property of the Post-master-General, Henry Balfour Burden (21) was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. A detective stated that the mail contained cheques to the value of £3OOO. None were negotiable and about six had not been recovered, and accused said those had been burnt. Tho greater part of the mail was recovered.
