FIRE PREVENTION WEEK

BRIGADE’S DEMONSTRATION PROCESSION TO MORROW NIGHT Afarking the culminating point in the activities of Wanganui's “fire-preven-tion” week, a procession of four motors from the Central Fire Brigade Station will bo held to-morrow night and should attract a considerable amount of attention. The publicity which has been afforded during the recen* week in the direction of impressing on people the necessity for precaution in dealing with fires appears certain to bear good fruit. For this reason the procession should not be missed, especially by schoolchildren, to whom Superintendent Williams has addressed some very instructive and interesting lectures on fire pre vention. Air. Williams has visited ea:h school and the attentive hearing which has been accorded him created a very favourable impression. The procession arranged for to-mor-row evening promises to be as impressive as it will be instructive, the four machines being fully manned for firefighting purposes. Headjd by the Wanganui Highland Pipe Band, ’the procession will leave the central station at 7.30 p.m. and will prqceed by way of Guyton Street to Victoria Avenue and then to the Town Bridge, returning thence through the business area. Striking posters will add to the display made by the gleaming brass of the firemen’s helmets and the highly-polished machines.
