VOICES FROM THE SKIES
WARNING TO TRIBESMEN LONDON, Oct. 7. A mighty voice from the skies, warning rebellious tribesmen that an air attack will be launched if they do not disperse, is the object of experiments carried out by a Viekcrs-Vi-toria troop-carrier at Brooklands. This aeroplane, which will shortly be sent out to Afesopotamia, is equipped with 36 loud speaker units connected to four enormous 1 nipcts at the bottom of the fuselage. The tests were conducted at heights of 2000 to 4000 feet. Tho “voice” sounded clearly on the ground, though only two-thirds of the available power was used. An operator’s cough 4000 feet high came down like a giant’s roar. Experiments are being made with gramophone records in Arabic to overcome the language difficulty.
