TRAGEDY AT GISBORNE [ Per Press Association. ] GISBORNE, Oct. 13. Lawrence Shacklock Evans, aged 21, a junior clerk employed by the Gisborne Borough Council, was found at 8.45 this morning lying ou the floor uf the office of the strongroom with a bullet wound in his head and the office revolver in his hand. Deceased arrived at the office at eight o’clock and appeared to be cheerful. The assistant-town clerk (Mr \V. Jenkins), after opening the strongroom, entered another room and a few moments later heard the shot which he thought was a tyre* bursting. A few seconds afterwards another shot sounded. Mr Jenkins then dashed into tho strongroom where he found Evans lying in a pool of blood. Deceased, who was single, had been in the council’s employ for about two
