OHAKUNE
FOOTBALI. Last Saturday the game between Ohakune and Rovers resulted in a draw, each side scoring three points. Ohakune w r as compelled to force twice soon after the start. Gordon had a shot at goal for Rovers, but was unsuccessful. Bradshaw also made an unsuccessful attempt at goal. McLeod, for Ohakune, was the next to try, but he likewise failed. Half time saw no score. In the second spell there was good play. Thurlow hau a drop kick but the ball went just under the bar. Thurlow unfortunately was injured and had to be taken off. A penalty by Ohakune in a good position enabled Clemett to have an easy shot and put up the first score. Rovers tried hard to even, up matters, and were nearly over to sedre on two occasions. Gordon had another try at goal but failed. From a passing rush Chisholm scored in the corner, but Gordon failed to convert, leaving th* score 3 all. Mr R. Millard made an efficient refereeTENNIS At the annual meeting of the Ohakune Tennis Club the following were elected office-bearers for the ensuing season: Patron, Mr E. O. Lightband; president, Mr G. J. Goldfinch; vicepresident, Dr L. E. Jordan; secretary, Mr T. O. ones; club captain, Mr R. Blennerhassett; committee, Misses M. Newlings and C. Hewitt, Messrs A. White and S. Thomas. The president, Mr G. J. Goldfinch, in his annual report, said that from a playing point of view the past season had been an exceptionally fine one. Unfortunately tho finances of the club were not in as good a position as tho previous year. This was due to the heavy expenditure on the various improvements. An additional 10 feet of asphalt was made at each end of the two courts, and two summer houses erected. Two combined Yankee tournaments proved very successful. It was gratifying to note the enthusiasm shown by all competitors in the club’s Easter tournament. The Tennis Club and Croquet Club held a combined dance. The weather was bad and the attendance did not come up to expectations, but it was very enjoyable. He hoped the members would all take a keen interest in the affairs of the club, and provided there was good weather there should be a successful season this year. GENERAL A local grower has advertised fullsized sacks of first-grade potatoes delivered free in Ohakune for 7s fid. 'Rev. A. J. Sear r, superintendent of the Methodist Home Mission department, conducted service in the Ohakune Church last Sunday.
