THREE AFTERNOON DAINTIES. Date rolls, tarts and nut ginger biscutis may be made from this mixture. Beat to a cream 4oz. butter with 4oz. sugar, add two well-beaten eggs. Sift 9ozs. flour, 2ozs. cornflour, 1$ teaspoons of cream of tartar, three-quar-ters of a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda, and a pinch of salt. Add to butter, etc., with sufficient milk to make a fairly firm dough. Divide into three equal parts. Roll one piece out fairly thin, cut into neat oblongs, and place on each a stoned date. Fold over, pinch edges together and place, on a buttered tray. Roll the second piece of paste fairly thin, cut into rounds, press into tart or patty tins, and place on tray with date rolls. Roll remainder of dough into a square Jin. thick, spread with beaten white of egg and a tablespoon of icing sugar. sprinkle with crushed nuts, cut into fingers, and bake all in a hot oven about 10 minutes. When cold, till tarts with lemon cheese or jelly.
