BAND CONCERT
Another of the popular and widelyappreciated band concerts was given by the Garrison Band last night in the Majestic Theatre. The performance was one of the finest that the band has given for some time and Mr J. Watson, the conductor and the members of the band are to be congratulated on their fine efforts. The two big selections. “Rigoletto” and
“Labour and Love,” were exceptional, and the work of the solo instruments was particularly outstanding. Bandsman 0. Williams gave an excellent rendering of the euphonium solo, “Fatherland,” proving himself to be a master of his instrument. Several excellent selections were given by the Elrick “Tempo Chasers” orchstra under the baton of Mr W. Durie. The numbers from “Viennese Nights’’were warmly received and were met with an insistent enchore. Miss T. Durie was heard to advantage in a saxophone solo, “ Saxophobia. ” and was encored. Miss Jean Ditchfield was very good in an elocutionary item. “Me and •Targe,” which also met with a demand for an encore.
