READING THE TEACUP
WOMAN BEFORE THE COURT A woman was charged at Albury, New South Wales, recently with having unlawfully pretended to tell fortunes. She peaded guilty, and her counsel stated that she admitted candidly that she had read teacups. The police said that she was making £1 a week from the practice. The magistrate, in binding defendant over to appear for sentence if called upon within 12 months, arid ordering her to enter into-,recognisances to be of good behaviour for that perioo, said that it was surprising how credulous people were. When visiting Melbourne, and when in a reputable cafe, he saw an elderly woman going from table to table reading cups.
