HOSPITAL BOARD
MONTHLY REPORT CITY AND DISTRICT WORK. The Wanganui Hospital Board met yesterday morning. Those present were: Mr Broderick (chairman), Dr. Mollie Christie, Airs Siddells, Dr. S. Bkerman, Messrs D. D. Simpson, W. J. Kogers, A. S. Coleman, G. E. Anderson, H. I. Christensen and J. A. Morton. The Aledicay Superintendent, Dr. A. D. Nelson, reported that during the month one nurse entered hospital for training and one resigned. The total number of nurses on the staff was 49, less six who did special duty. At present there were three nurses on leave, two sick and it was therefore necessary to get in more nurses. The number in hospital at the beginning of the month had been 114—71 males and 43 females —and admitted during the month 164 93 males and 71 females. The totals were 278 —164 being males and 114 females. The number discharged had been 151—82 males and 69 females — and the number died 11—eight males and three females. The number remaining at the end of the month was 116—74 males and 42 females. The Radiologist, Dr. E. J. E. Topham, reported: Number of X-ray examinations: In-patients 66, out-patients 48; number of treatments, X-ray and radium: 53, total 167. Amount charged: In-patients £76 2s 6d, out-patients £llB 2s 6d, total £194 ss. The medical officer at Taihape, Dr. Al. Kronfeld, reported: Number of patients in hospital, July 1, 29, number admitter 30, number discharged 28, number remaining in hospital, July 31, 31, number of operations, major 5, minor 3, total 8. Number of out-patients 3. Amount banked £4B 9s. The matron of the Raetihi Hospital reported: Number of patients in hospital, July 1,6, number admitted 15, number discharged 16, number remaining in hospital, July 31, 5. Number of operations, major 4, minor 3, total 7. Number of confinements 4, number of outpatients 2. The Wanganui District Nurse reported for July: Number of visits paid 305. new cases 10, discharged 7, hospital 4, deaths 3, remaining on list 25, fees collected £2 3s 6d. The Marton District Nurse reported for the month: Number of visits paid 173, number of new cases 22, number of old cases 4, number discharged 19, number remaining on books 7, number of confinements 1, number of deaths 2, transferred to hospital 3, fees collected £8 8s 6d. The Ohakuno District Nurse reported: Number of visits paid 46, new cases 8, number discharged 6, number remaining on books 11, number of confinements 2, number of midwifery cases on books 4, fees collected £6 The Alatron of the Jubilee Home reported: Number of inmates July .1 50, number remaining at end of month 50. The health of the inmates remains good. The Bacteriologist reported: Examinations made 871, fees recoverable £l* 16s, fees non-reeoverable £l2 17s 6d.
