SCHEDULED FOR THE REGENT THEATRE
British International Pictures’ line- 1 up of comedy talent which has already been so strongly fortified by the recent addition of Gene Gerrard, Stanley Lupino, Lupino Laue and Ernie Lotinga, is to be augmented by yet another distinguished comedian in the person of Billy Merson. A characteristic Merson vehicle has been selected for his first full-length talkie which will provide a musical background for his laugh-evoking talents. On the completion of the script, Merson will take the Elstree floor under the direction of John Orton.
Tom Douglas, Paramount player, played opposite Dorothy Gish in “The Country Flapper” at fifteen, and then went on the stage until this year. More than 250 stellar personalities have been under contract to Paramount during the twenty years of its existence. Adolph Zukor, president of Paramount Publix is credited with having made first use of organ music accompanying motion pictures for the showing of the Passion Play when he was an exhibitor at. a tiny theatre in 1911.
