AUCKLAND ECONOMIES CUP OF TWO THOUSAND f Per Press Association. 1 AUCKLAND, Aug. 14. Owing to the serious drop in all revenue last season, the Auckland Racing Club has decided to make a drastic reduction in the stake money for the spring meeting, and also for the principal handicaps at /the summer meeting. The total prize money for the spring meeting has been reduced from £9300 to £7300. The principal reductions are in the Mitchclson Cup, which is now £lOOO, and the Welcome Stakes, now £650. The Auckland Cup at. the sum mer meeting will be reduced from £3OOO to £2OOO, the Railway Handicap from £1250 to £lOOO. the Summer Cup from £lOOO to £B5O, the Racing Club’s Handicap from £l5OO to £lOOO, and the Grandstand Handicap from £lOOO to £B5O. Weigh t-for-age races remain the same as last season, but the remainder of the summer programme will be considered after the spring meeting.
