NOVEMBER PROGRAMME i EVENTS FOR SPRING FIXTURE .Special to 44 Chronicle.’’ The fact that the spring meeting of the Marton Jockey Club is set down to be held on Wednesday, November 4, lends considerable interest to the programme now issued for the fixture. The general committee of the Marton Jockey Club met on Thursday evening, there being present Messrs J. R. L. Stanford (chairman). R. E. Beckett, H. McManaway, L. M. Richards, F. Brice, E. J. McDonell, S. J. GibI bons, L. Hammond. A. T. Gatrell, J. 1 Brice and the secretary. On account of the resignation of Mr D. G. Riddiford as honorary treasurer Mr J. Brice was appointed in his stead i and Mr S. J. Gibbons was appointed as a member of the committee. The club’s delegates to the New Zea- ■ land Racing Conference forwarded a re- | por' on the business transacted at the ; annua! conference, and a hearty vote of 1 thanks was accorded Messrs J. R. L. ■ Stanford and J. H. Perrett for their ' services. The following new members were elected: Messrs J. Pickford (Rata), K. I Scoon, H. C. Date. S. A. Wilson, R. P. Sherriff. A. 11. Hawke, W. A. G rummitt, I Don Stewart, P. N. Keeling (Marton), | and W. R. Duncan (Hunterville). : The course committee were empow- • ered to plough drain part of the training tracks. ! The report of the New Zealand Country Clubs’ Conference was received. Spring Meeting Programme ' At a meeting of the executive com- ' mittee subsequently the following pro- ■ gramme was approved for the spring meeting, to he held on Wednesday, No- ’ vember 4:— Trial Plate (for two-year-olds and : three-year-olds and upwards), £75, five ■ furlongs. Hack Hurdles. £B5, 1| miles. I Ladies’ Bracelet (hack), £65, one mile and 137 yards. Tutaenui Hack. £75. seven furlongs. Marton Handicap (open), £l2O, 1| I miles. Spring Hack. £BO, one mile and 137 • yards. ! Railway Handicap (open). £9O, six . furlongs. Farewell Hack, £75. five furlongs. It was decided that free stabling he ' provided for all visiting horses that ; travel at least 30 miles to the spring I meeting. At th? totalisator window 10s tickets ■ only will he sold, with the exception of ’ one £5 window.
