K. Brant, o\ersecr. reported that during the past month the general maintenance work has been attended to. Have scarified the sides of metalled roads, patched and rolled Henderson's Line. Mill, Cubbabballa, Russell, Morris, Harris, Grey, Follett ai I' Streets. Have re-metalled, bonded aand rolled 5 chains of road Lyon Street. Redecked briilge Henderson’s Line. I’alidicd and rolled trench William Street. The septic, tanks have been thoroughly cleaned out. Water tables have been cleaned out on Milne ami Bell Streets and Pukepapa Road. Three water leaks in mains have been A sewerage blockage on Wellington* Road has been cleared and manholes and mains flushed out in Broadway. The reservoir is holding its full capacity of water and is overflowing. Embankments are in good order. Relii'f Work. —Excavations and fillings have been done on Kensington Road and Henderson’s Line. Have excavated, levelled, formed and graded 20 chains of side-track ou Wellington Road. Henderson’s Line.—Have diverted creek from the side of the road through the Borough (’ouncil’s property, excavating a drain 2 chains long, 5 feet wide and 2 feet deep. Also diverted ereek from the side of the road, taking it across Johannsen's properlv, excavating a drain 3 chains long. 6 feet wide and 3 feet deep. These deviations prevent all ereek water from running down the sides of the road. Al! blackberry has been grubbo'l out on the septic tank property. Gorse has been grubbed out on roadway in front of F. G. Jackson’s property in Potaka and Otorc Streets Gas Manager's Report Mr A. Wilkins, gas manager, reported that, during the month .12 gas fires ha\e been fitted, 2 new services have been connected, 4 services renewed, 1 combination cooker has been installed, J cooker re-installed and 2 water heaters fitted. For the p:• ‘ month 615,800 cubic feet of gas - had been manufactured as against 596,900 for the corresponding month last year. Treasurer’s Report The Town Clerk reported 1 at the roceipts for the month were £1438 Ss 5d (including subsidy on rates, £275 18s ’>d). Rates collected amounted to £4lB 13s, Town Hall £135 13s 4d, gas consumers £205 10s lOd, and water fees and connections £135 Ils 6d.
