RUGBY FOOTBALL. MARRIED v. SINGLE. The annual match, Married versus i Single will be played on Saturday next, 17th., commencing at 2.45 p.m. The “Married” team will be selected from the following players and triers:—J. Tuckey, P. Brooks, H. Pritchard, A. J. McDonald, ID. Goodwin, J. Goodwin, C. Henderson, O. Foote, K. O’Halloran, J. Ward, L. Dalziell, M. Down, C. Clent, A. Charles, am as many more as will assist in a good cause. It is reported that a special agreement has been drawn up be tween the “Married” and the referee regarding the length of time a player is to remain down for a breather. The captain of the “Singles,” will lead to the slaughter, a team picked from the tollowing:—E. Flanuagan, M. Flannagnn. Bartlett, Corbett, Mackie J. Henderson, L. Henderson, Nclmes, Lynch, Powell, Prilfhard, H. Mclntyre, F. Mclntyre. \. Linton, I. Linton Dear, T. Mercer :rd James. It should be noted that as the “Singles” team includes three traitors, the matter of a protest will be decided after the result of the game is Known. W.D.F.U. The monthly meeting of the Ohingaiti branch of the W.D.F.U. was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday last, 23rd. The President, Airs A. C. Morton, presided over a good attendance. r lhe chief business of an interesting meeting was the presentation of the conference remits which were fully discussed. The secretary reported that there was one housekeeper employed in the district at present.

BASKETBALL. The match Town versus “Over-the-rivo"” to be played on Saturday next, 27th., should prove interesting, as the las match ended in a draw, 12 all. A small charge of sixpence for afternoon tea, will be made for non-members. Play is improving greatly and it is hoped that two match teams will be formed shortly. At a meeting held on Saturday last, the following appointments were made: Official referee, Mr W. H. Scott; committee, Misses G. Ransom and K. Ham mond. Afiss D. Hammond was appointed acting vice captain and treasurer, owing to the regrettable absence of Aliss Paterson. Saturday. July 11. was tentatively fixed for the visit of the Taihape teams, and arrangements are in hand to entertain them. HALL IMPROVEMENTS. Tn addition to the extra seating accommodation provided recently, the hal’ committee are carrying out improvements and additions to the supper room. The partition dividing the sup-per-room from the kitchon is being completed Io the ceiling, and lining work is to be done in the kitchen. A fireplace has been installed in the supper room, and this room can he now made very comfortable for card evenings or smaller social functions. The improvements have been made possible by the utilisation of the funds raised by the queen carnival held last year.

GENERAL. The inclement weather which has been general throughout the district culminated in sleet and snow on Tuesday night, and snow is lying on all elevated points around the town. Mr and Mrs R. W. Wrightson are spending a short holiday in the Carnarvon and Feilding districts. Airs and Miss M. Edwards have left Ohingaiti to reside in Auckland. Mr and Mrs A. A. Lilley are spending a holiday in Auckland.
