NEW SOUTH WALES CONTROL

BIG EVENTS AHEAD. Control of New South Wales amateur athletics will bo practically in new hands during the coming year, when there is much work to be done in preparation for Australian championships and the Harbour Bridge opening carmeal, as well as the National Games in Melbourne, which, though not directly the concern of Now South Wales, will cause some organising work. It is to be hoped that, youthful enthusiasm and tho qualities which a new broom is supposed to possess compensates for lack ol experience. The chairmanship of the executive passes from veteran W. B. Alexander to Myer Rosenblum. The defeat of the holder of tho position was not entirely unexpected for some time past, and as tho meeting drew near it became more definite. His successor, Myer Rosenblum, is a top-notcher at field games, and a. New South Wales representative at Rugby Union football, recently being the central figure in a little turbulence in the union. Captain of St. George Club, he resigned over a difference regard ing the selection committee, which ho considered numerically too great. It was discovered then that he had not been residentially qualified for tho club. The position created was an unusual one. but tho union required him to stand down for a short period. He has been acting as association delegate for University. W. O. Gry, of Y.M.C.A., and J. W Ralph, an Englishman, who arrived in Australia when his active athletic davs wore finished, are newcomers to the executive. There has boon a fair exchange with Victoria, Alley Gainsford, distance run nor, who vacated tho position of race socretarv, through being transferred Io tho southern capital, having given way to R. Casmir, former Malvern Harrier. An innovation is the appointment of Miss D. Lee. as assistant secretary. When trained by E. Goode, the profos sional, she was quite a good sprinter, being runner up to Chrissic Dahm in the 100 yards and 220 cards two years ago However, she has not maintained that form.
