HERE COMES ONE OF THE OLD BAND

Dear Wendy. Having tseen my birthday in your list Reminded me that I had not written to you for a long time, so I thought I would write once more. Isn’t it wonderful how quickly the years go by? It seems that one has just had one's birthday when the next comes. About how many Ites have you in the Hut now. I was very disappointed that I could not go away to school at the beginning of this year. I was to have gone to lona, but owing to the school being damaged in the earthquake of February 3, it was unable to be opened this year, so I am now going to school in Marton until it re-openu. There is to be a hunt on my uncle’s property on Wednesday week, and I would very ( much like to follow the hounds round, but as it’s on a Wednesday I cannot, as it is a school day. 1 have no more news so I will close with lots of love.—From “GOLDEN TULIP," Marton. r , L ear nie ' hut it !s truly my “Golden Tulip!” How jolly of you to write, dear. I thought you had quite forgotten all about us. The time does pass quickly, indeed. 1 hope you spent a happy time on your birthday, and received many nice gifte. I hope your Old school will soon lie ready for you to return to. How exciting the hunt is. Perhaps next time, dear. We have now over 2500 in our band. Grown. hasn’t it 7 Wendy.
