SLOT MACHINES RAIDED
YOUTHS BEFORE COURT. EXTENSIVE OPERATIONS [ Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, June 11. Penny poker played in a bakehouse with coins taken from stamp machines and telephone slot machines which they had raided, was one of the pastimes indulged in by three young men who ap pcared at the Police Court this morning and admitted a series of charges They were Albert James Clark (19). Frederick Joseph Nadcn (22), and Leonard James Montrose Stanaway (18). A fourth youth was arrested, but as he i«- a juvenile, he will be dealt with at the Children’s Court. The three accused appeared on numerous charges of damaging slot machines and stealing their contents. Detective-Sergeant Kelly said that since the arrest of these four youths. j:o further thefts from slot machines have been reported, and there is no doubt that the three men now before the Court, and the other youth who is to come before another Court, were responsible. The district telegraph en gireer estimates that a total sum of £5 4s 8d was stolen from the postage stamp machines, ami that the damage done to them was £3 6s sd. As far as the engineer can calculate, £6 in pennies was stolen from telephone slot machines, which were damaged to the extent of £SC 10s 7d. These young men have at different times used a motor car and two motor cycles, when they toured round by night damaging and stealing from slot machines. The magistrate remanded accused for
