MANY HAVE NOT PAID. STATEMENT BY MINISTER. [ Per Pres. Association.] AUCKLAND, May 24 It has boon stated that large numbers are evading payment of tho unemployment levy. Speaking at Papatoetoe last night, Hon. 8. G. Smith, MinisIn 1 ' said tl,at ‘be facts were that 46.>,000 males were registered under the Act, and in December 1930 398.500 had paid the levy then due. rrom the number registered must be deducted soldiers on full pensions, oldage pensioners, prisoners and others exempt from the levy.
