PERSONAL Mr W. J. Kane, Government auditor, 1 is at present engaged auditing the Town Board, Domain Board and Rabbit Board accounts. - Mr and Mrs R, Irwin, Wanganui, are I visiting their daughter, Mrs C. Coni--1 wall, Waitakaruru, Hauraki Plains. ■ Miss Eva Irwin (Wanganui College) is also spending her vacation with them. The death occurred at Wanganui on I Tuesday of Air Charles Peffers, aged ' 55 years. The deceased was a brother of Dlrs T. Chisholm and Mrs Lyall, of Hunterville. Friends of M r Ken Follas, son of Mr and Mrs J. T. Follas, will bo sorry to learn that while playing football at Wellington on Saturday lie was struck on the head and is in hospital suffer--1 ing from concussion. SCOUT TROOP COMMITTEE MON TH L Y MEETING The monthly meeting of the Hunterville Scout Troop committee was held in the Anglican Sunday School room on Tuesday night. In the absence of the president, Mr R. Dukeson, Rev. C. R. Kreeft was voted to the chair. Also present were: Mesdames H. Morton, J. Nicholson, Alessrs E. G. Simons, A. V. Sutton and S. S. Powell (secretary). It was reported that the euchre party held was very successful «nd the tr-jjp had now no financial obligations. Votes of thanks were accorded all who assisted in making the effort a success, especially Mrs G. Stratford and Mrs Mbit on for taking charge of the supper and Mr Sutton for giving th 5 prizes. The Scoutmaster reported the strength of the troop as two second class scouts, and 15 ten lei foot boys. One new recruit was enrolled during the month. It was suggested that as Hunterville had no first aid men in attendance at the football matches the scouts might be of some use. The Scoutmaster pointed out that the boys were not yet far enough advanced in the work to cope with many accidents, but nevertheless could be quite useful. It was decided that it be suggested to the management committee of the Football Club that two boys could be present at each match to be at the officials call with a stretcher and to make themselves useful in cases of emergency. Messrs Simons and Sutton were appointed a visiting committee for the month. FOOTBALL The following team will represent Hunterville in their match with Bulls, at Bulls.—Novar, Whetton, Pcddie, Harre, Hayward, Cameron, Watt, Walker, Mclntyre, Stewart, Graham, Bilderbeck, Bartlett, Mclntyre, Parkes. PUKEROA A well attenJe ' l dance was held at ‘“lhe Lakes,” Pukeroa, the evening being in honour of Mr Rex Lock upon his 21st. birthday. Mrs F. W. Lock attended in navyblue lace and received the guests. Among the dresses noticed were: Airs Butement, black georgette; Alr s E. Hall, black lace; Airs K. Hammond, blue georgette; Airs V. F. Toulmin, brown velvet; Airs C. H. Reynolds, red velvet; Mrs K. Duncan, white georgette; Mrs J. D. Lilburn, pink velvet and silver lace; Alr s K. Coleman, blue crepe de chene; Airs H. J. Tod, navy ! blue crepe do chene; Mrs W. Nation, black lace; Airs H. A. Nation, black crepe de chene; Miss D. Daiziell, pink lace; Miss G. Wilton, floral ninon; Miss B. Butement, floral georgette; Miss H. Livingston, blue satin; Miss A. James, apricot georgette; Miss D. James, black taffeta and net;'Miss N. AlcNaught floral taffeta; Miss B. Livingston red satin; Miss J. Douglas, green satin; ' Miss M. Tod, black velvet; Miss E. Douglas, green floral taffeta; Aliss AL Dobson, blue lace; Aliss E. Lock, blue satin. Music was supplied by Messrs R Loveridge, M. Mallet, A. Hartley, I.' Cameron. At the supper interval, Mr Watkins, M.C., proposed a toast and in a very ' neat speech wished Rex on behalf of ail present greetings and happiness for the I : future. Over 60 guests indulged in dancing till midnight. MANGAONOHO RIFLE CLUB The following results have been supplied by the secretary, Mr J. H. Hardie:—

TENNIS CLUB The assemblies being held .in the woolshed every Thursday are proving most popular, and these,'coupled with last Friday’s long night, have considerably increased the funds now held to the courts. For several evenings Miss D. Paget and M. Rowe proved the champion ping-pong players, but they were ousted from the premiere position last Friday, the new champions being Lorraine Dalziell and Ken Eames. The long night was very enjoyable, a tasty supper dispensed by the ladies adding considerably to the success of the evening. Music was supplied by Mr C. Stewart, and Miss Shackleton kindly assisted with extras. Next Friday Poukiore Hull will be the scene of

another evening in aid of the Manga onoho tenis court’s funds.
