AUSTRALIAN GOODS
MOVE AGAINST "DUMPING.” Support was given by the Dominion executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union on Wednesday to a Marlborough remit designed to prevent the dumping of Australian goods into New Zealand, to take advantage of London exchange. The remit was as follows: —“That the Government be urged to take immediate stops to prevent Australian exporters, in their endeavours to obtain London exchange through New Zealand, from dumping their exports into New Zealand at extremely low prices, to the great detriment of New Zealand producers and the exhausting of New Zealand balances in London, which are urgently required for our own purposes,” The chairman (Mr W. J. Polson, M.P.) said that commercial concerns were vitally interested in the matter. The position was wrong, and some action should be taken. The secretary (Colonel J. Pow) said that the matter had been taken up by the Associated Chambers of Commerce. It was decided to co operate with the associated chambers.
