HOURS OF WORKING ANGLO-GERMAN DISCUSSION [ British Official Wireless. ] RUGBY Nov. 19. The Secretary for Mines (Mr E. Shinwcll- in his attempt to secure an international agreement in the coal industry, both in production and marketing, and on miners’ hours, yesterday met Dr. Stegerwald (German Minister of Labour).

Their discussion concerned questions likely to arise at Geneva in June of next year, when the International Labour Conference again .vill consider the formulation of an international convention on the underground hours of coal miners. The two Ministers were able to reach an understanding of each other’s point of view. There wore also informal discussions on economic aspects of international coal questions.

Dr. Stegerwald agreed to convey Mr Shinwcll’s suggestions to the German
