The employers, in a statement sec out that the forty-four hour week meant an increase of about ten per cent ©n present rates and the meat industry was unable to stand this burden, nor could employers countenance attempts by the Union to enforce the demaqd by direct actionMeat Board authorities announce that the abattoirs will not be re-opened until iho strike cloud has entirely disappeared- The Meat Employees’ Union is' now in communication with all its branches in other States with the object- of preventing fresh supplies being sent to New South Wales. .
