SETTLEMENT NOT REACHED. Received Nov. 20, 8.38 p.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 20. Judge Piddington’s further efforts to settle the meat strike failed. Employers emphasised that they will insist on a 48 hour week until a repeal of the law reverting to the 44 hours. Employers are also demanding £lOOO guarantee from the union that its members will give continuity of set vice and freedom from irritation tactics and job control.
