LADS SHUN THE DOLE

A long tramp by two lads who were anxious to find work raider than take the dole or be a burden on their parents was disclosed at Aidershot recently when Edwin Ogden, aged 19, and Harry Wild, aged 18, both of Oldham, Lancashire, were charged with wandering. It was stated that during their tramp the accused did odd jobs and picked hops in Hampshire. They arrived at Farnborough, Hampshire, penniless and footsore. The Court missioner said the lads were respectable, and the magistrates and missioner provided their fares home and food for the journey.
