Air Af. Denehy, Assistant-General Manager of Railways, is staying at the Rutland Hotel.

The Rt. Hon. J. G- Coates passed through AVanganui on Saturday on his way to Auckland.

Air A. E. .Tull, member for Waipawa, was a visitor to AVanganui over the week-end.

The quarterly session of the Supreme Court, which opens in AVanganui next Alonday, will be presided over by Air Justice Ostler.

Air A. E. Alandcr, organising secretary to the Reform Party, passed through AVanganui on Saturday on route to New Plymouth.

The following promotions in the Queen Alexandra Alountcd Rifles Regiment are confirmed in the latest issue of the New Zealand Gazette: Captain P. AV. D. Strachan to be Major. SecondLieutenant • AT. J. Hartwell and Second Lieutenant E. L. Honeyfield to be Lieutenants.

Air F. G. AVood, present manager for ?7ew Zealand Dur the Canadian National Steamships Company, has been appointed manager for Australasia with headquarters in Sydney and Air AV. Al. Luke has succeeded him as manager for New Zealand. This advice has been received by the local agents, Alessrs C- F. Millward and Co.

Dr. Elizabeth Gunn, medical inspector of schools for the AVanganui district, has been granted leave of absence from the Health Department for a visit overseas- She intends leaving at the end of this month and will visit Java. Singapore, India, the Persian Gulf, Constantinople, and the Continent. AVhilc in Europe she will study the latest and most advanced work in regard to diseases in children and medical inspection of schools.
