SEVEN MONTHS’ FIGURES The latest bankruptcy returns covtr the periods to tho end of July and for the seven months, while the bankruptcies were three less than in the corresponding seven months of 1929, the' deeds of assignment were seven more. Irt the North Island there were 290 bankruptcies as compared with 269, an increase of 21, or not quite 8 per cent. There was an increase of 4 in tho number of deeds of assignment registered in the North Island, the figures being 84 against 80. Tho total insolvencies in the North Island was thus 374 against 349, an increase for the period of 25, or just over 7 per cent. In the South Island the bankruptcies numbered 108 against 132, a decrease of 24, or over 18 per cent- In the south they appear to favour deeds of assignment for the total of such m the seven months was 37, as compared with 25, an increase of 12, or nearly 50 per coht. The total number of insolvencies in the South Island during the period was 145, against 157, a drop of 12.
