LUCKY "BONNY DOONE" HAS PET CALF

Dear Wendy,—How are you getting on? I hope you are in the best of health. We are having our holidays now. 1 hope it keeps fine till they are over. We have two miles to go to school. We used to walk, but daddy got "Goldfinch” a cycle. The other day “Goldfinch” caught a big eel in the creek. Nearly every day I go out to help to feed out the hay and turnips. Daddy took "Goldfinch” and I to Eltham last Friday. We also went to Kaponga. it is only a small place; have you been there, Wendy ? I have a dear little calf called "Jenny,” it was given to me by one of our neighbours. It is such a lovely day here to-day, just like summer. Well, dear Wendy, I will have to close now as "Goldfinch” is waiting for me to finish this letter; he is going to the Post Office. Lots of love and kisses to you all.— From "BONNY DOONE.” Eltham. This is a lovely surprise, dear. I am ever sb happy to have your welcome letter this week. I am keeping quite well, thank you. How kind of daddy to buv a cycle for "Goldfinch.” I suppose he gives you a ride upon the bar to school. I have U>en through Eltham. How lovely to have the dear, wee calf. The Weather Clerk has been good to us here also. It was quite fine during the whole of the holidays. Our "Winter Bride” lives at Kaponga.—Wendy.
