There was an increase of 162, compared with previous week, in the number of unemployed registered in New Zealand for the week ended last Monday according to a statement by the Minister of Labour (the Hon. S. G. Smith). Tho week’s total was 5441 and details of registration at fhc larbour bureaux and post offices are as follow : Auckland: With dependants 758, without dependants 557. Wellington: 534; 321. Christchurch: 571; 365. Dunedin: 383; 153. Invercargill: 103; 54. Total for the five centres with the figures for the previous week in parentheses) are as follow: Auckland: 1297 (1218). Wellington: 55 (861). Christchurch: 936 (931). Dunedin: 536 (452). Invercargill: 157 (160).
