SAWMILL DESTROYED BY FIRE.

Mr C. O. Gibbs’ sawmill at Omatane near Taihape was completely destroyed by fire on Monday night. Nothing was saved from the flames. At midnight the mill was intact but half an hour later it was a mass of ruins. The origin of the outbreak is a mystery. It is understood the mill was not working on Monday. About 30 men were employed at the mill, and as a result of the fire they will now be thrown out of employment. Further particulars were not available at the time of writing.
