TROUBLE AT A CHURCH

THE ORGAN BROKEN UP SERVICE BY CANDLE LIGHT MELBOURNE, June 23. When the congregation attended a Presbyterian Church in South Melbourne it found all of the doors and windows barricaded, and after forcing an entrance discovered that the organ, valued at £lOOO, had been broken and th 3 wooden pipes removed and nailed to the walls to barricade the windows. The night service was conduced with the aid of candles placed c the ends of seats along the aisles. The trouble is stated to be the i .'suit of a dispute with another church in the vicinity. The authorities some time ago decided to amalgamate two Presbyterian churches. The congregation at the church where the trouble occurred refused to do this, and for the last six months has been conducting services without the aid of a minister.
