Ancient Sanitation “We pride ourselves on our scientific knowledge of sanitary arrangements,” said the Rev. J. Paterson in an address to the Rotary Club yesterday. Compared with the sanitation of an Egyptian city of 14 centuries, 8.C., built by the Pharaoh Akhnaton, Wanganui would be a pigstye. The system was cut out of solid rock and most carefully glazed. The result was that sanitation was even better than under modern conditions.
