REPUBLICAN LEADER’S ATTACK CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE URGED MADRID, Alay 1. 1 Going further than Guerra, Scnor Gassett (Republican leader) bitterly attacked King Alfonso in a speech at Barcelona, urging a campaign of civil disobedience, including the non-pay-ment of taxes, till the King restores full constiutional government.

It is estimated that 10,000 assembled at the station to greet Scnor Unamua, former rector of Salamanca University, who was exiled during the dictatorship. On arrival he addressed a meeting of Republicans. The crowd cheered wildly, some shouting, “Long Live Unamuna! Down with Alfonso!,’’ whereupon a bugle sounded and police, mounted and afoot, charged with drawn sabres. Twelve were wounded
