BASIC WAGE LOWERED SAVING FOR NEW SOUTH WALES Received April 24, 8 pm. SYDNEY, April 24. Following the quarterly adjustment of the cost of living figures the basic wage level has fallen by from three shillings weekly for clothing trade employees and clerks to 5s 6d for wharf labourers. The saving to employers of New South Wales is estimated at about £500,000 per annum, the railways alone amounting to £320,000.
