A GREAT SEND-OFF SYDNEY, Feb. 7. Among those at the wharf were Dr. Purdy and Mr H. L. Havyatt, In a parting word Mr Chichester said that he would like to have flown across the Tasman to the Dominion and so finished the job. He hoped to attempt the task later. Meanwhile he would resume his ordinary avocation in New Zealand. He expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming kindness of the Australian people ever since he arrived at Darwin.
Mr Chichester’s ‘aeroplane is on board the Maunganui among the dci:k cargp aft. Ringing cheers were given when the vessel began to move away and a wealth of coloured streamers broke and became a tangled mass in tfie hands of the brave airman and the host of his admirers.
