WANGANUI CENTRAL CLUB NEXT THURSDAY’S CARNIVAL OLD-TIMERS’ CUP HANDICAPS When the Wanganui Central Swimable period past. In addition, it has night event they will stage what is claimed to be the most unique swimming event ever placed on a programme in Wanganui. This is the OldTimers’ Cup, a handicap event which promises to bring into action a very weighty team of swimmers of former days Much care and calculation has been expended in the compilation of the handicaps for this event, the adjustments rendering it necessary to delve into past records for a considerable period. In addition, it has has been found necessary to handicap some of the entrants on the second system and others on the yards system, the latter being the one so much in favour with the light-horse fraternity. Following is the list of adjustments issued by the handicapper, who for obvious reasons desires to remain anonymous and it will be interesting to see how many remain in after the declaration of the acceptances: —J. Robertson 3sec. L. Bonner 3sec.; G. Watson 6 sec.;’T. Lovegrove 12 yards behind; F. Edwards 4sec.; C. E. Stewart 3sec.; T. Hurley 3sec.; Sam Dunn 12 yards behind; Geo. Spriggens 14 yards behind; A. Collan 3sec.; R. Bell 3sec.; W. Thomas 3sec.; A. H. Hurley 3sec.; S. L. Parsons 12 yards behind; Ginger Menzies 25 yards behind; L. H. D. MeIvor 3sec.; F. G. Brown 3sec.; H. Beynor 12 yards behind; F. Corrigan 15 yards behind.
