WANGANUI REGATTA SPLENDID NOMINATIONS. PROSPECTS FOR SUCCESS. Judging by the nominations received for the Wanganui Rowing Association’s annual regatta, which is set down down to be held on Saturday next, February 8, the function should be a Huge success, even though it is a matter for regret that the representation of outside clubs will not be so strong as in former years. This is due in no small degree to an unfortunate clashing in dates. Naturally, with three strong clubs domiciled on the shores of the Wanganui River, entries from the local sheds dominate the list, but in several of the events Clifton, New Plymouth, North Shore, Avon and West End will see to it that competition is supplied. Following is the list of entries received:— Maiden Fours. New Plymouth. Clifton. Aramoho. Wanganui No. 1. Wanganui No. 2. North Shore. Union No. 1. Union No. 2. Maiden Singles. Avon. Aramoho. Wanganui. Union. Senior Fours. Union. Aramoho. Youths’ Fours. New Plymouth. Clifton. Aramoho. Wanganui. North Shore. Union No. 1. Union No. 2. X Junior Doubles. Aramoho. Wanganui. Union. Maiden Fours (Light Weight). New Plymouth. Aramoho No. 1. Aramoho No. 2. Aramoho No. 3. Wanganui. Union. Junior Fours (Best and Best). Clifton. Aramoho. West End. Union. Senior Singles. Union No. 1. Union No. 2. Junior Singles. Avon. Wanganui. Union. Aramoho. Junior Fours (Clinker). Clifton. Aramoho. West End. Union No. 1. Union No. 2. Taken all round it is an attractive list and, given fine weather on Saturday next, the Wanganui Rowing Association should be able to provide supporters of rowing with a splendid programme of events on the stretch of the river above the Aramoho railway bridge.
