VESSEL DRIFTING

AN INTERSTATE STEAMER MANY PASSENGERS ON BOARD SYDNEY, IDcc. 2. The Inter-State steamer Orungal is drifting helplessly fifteen miles from Smoky Cape with 187 passengers on board. A message received early this morning stated that the vessel had broken down but was in no immediate danger. The steamer Mungana is proceeding to the Orugal’s assistance and will attempt to tow her to Sydney but in the event of bad weather will go to Trial Bay. TAKEN IN TOW Received Dec. 2, 10 p.m. SYDNEY, Dec. 2. The Mungana reached the drifting Orungal early this morning and is now towing her to Sydney. A tug also is approaching in case she is needed.
