AERIAL RACE

SYDNEY TO PERTH. [ Australian Press Assn. ] SYDNEY, Sept. 80. Seventeen aeroplanes left Mascot this morning on the first stage of tho Sydney-Perth race. The race will bo flown by twelve stages, two daily, no stage to be more than 250 miles. LEADING MACHINES. MELBOURNE, Oct. 1. C. Pratt in a Moth is leading in the air race, with H. Miller’s DII9 and R. Bardsley’s Moth second and third respectively. There were several minor mishaps on the flight to Melbourne, breakdowns occurring to three machines. Bertram Heath in a DHSO made the fastest flying time, but on the handicap was last owing to losing over an hour in starting from Sydney.
