WARNING TO MOTORISTS
IMPRISONMENT THREAT. MENACE OF INTOXICATION. [ Per Press Association ] CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 3®. A general warning that motorists caught in charge of cars while in a state of intoxication will probably get terms of imprisonment in. future, without the option of paying a fine was given by Mr E. C. Leevey, S.M. in the Magistrate’s Court to-day. He commented on the growth of this class of offence preparatory to fining Victor Beaumont £6 and costs and cancelling his license for 12 months, on a charge of being intoxicated in charge of a car on Saturday evening.
