BULLS The Pictures Sam Hardy, who wears a derby hat with more of an “air” than any other character actor in pictures, does his best derby-wearing to date in First National’s “The Butter and Egg Alan,” at the Bulls Town Hall on Saturday night. Jack Alulhall is featured in the title role of the picture—which is an adaptation of the famous stage hit. Hardy supports him as a “fly” theatrical promoter. Greta Nissen is leading lady, and William Demarest and Gertrude Astor have important rules. Hardy wears a bowler with a feather in “The Butter and Egg Man.” Alulhall called it a “pin-feather” because it is only about two inches long, and recommended wearing one six inches long—just to bo different. L'lapham marked, sending the red invaders back to half-way. Alitcneli gathered in to score in the corner. Barrie’s immortal stage play, Alarion Davies makes a briliant contribution to the fine things of the screen. This picture, which will be shown at the Alarton Town Hall on Saturday night, has been splendidly produced, Director Sydney Franklin having succeeded in applying the whimsical “Barrie touch’’ to every scene. The love story that millions love opens in an English village at the time of the Napoleonic wars, and the dart that Cupid hurls among the old maids of “Quality Street” pierces thc heart of Aliss Phoebe Throssal deeper than young Dr Valentino Brown knows. Fate takes him away to the wars, however. and when he returns and finds his old love apparently aged things begin to move—for Phoebe is piqued with his cool treatment of her! Then her wiles prove how young she really has remained. Conrad Nagel heads a particularly strong cast of supporting players.
