TENNIS SEASON ENDS | [ Special “Chronicle” Service 1 i The tennis season was brought to a [close on Friday last, when a large number turned out for a final game. n ” c [courts, which have been levelled and top-dressed, were in excellent order and good games resulted. During the afternoon Air Cyril Handley, on behalf of the members, took the opportunity to make a presentation to Air and Airs J. Hawken, who are leaving the district and in a neat speech said they were ail sorry to have to say farewell. Air Handley asked them to accept on behalf of the club a supper : ' and a case of pipes. Air Hawken suitably replied. After the singing of “For [They Are Jolly Good Fellows,” after noon tea was dispensed by the ladies ■of the club. Rugby Football. I The local football season was opened |here with a friendly game between Wai|totara and Kai Iwi. After a good jgame for so early in the season, Waiitotara won by 12 to 6. Tries were [scored by Sloane one, Whakarua two, land a penalty goal by Beard, whih the Kai Jwi score was made up of two uniconverted tries. The official season will be opened on Saturday with a seven-a-side tournament at AVavcrley. The School. The annual householders’ meeting was attended by 22. Air R. Lethbridge presided.
