HOSPITAL FEES
U.F.S. MEMBERS’ RATE AGREEMENT ARRIVED AT • After considerable discussion, deputations to the Hospital Board, and final consideration by a special committee, an agreement has been drawn up as to the scale of payment to be made by members of thc United Friendly Societies’ Hospital Association. This agreement, which it is recommended should take effect from June 1, i 1929, and continue for 12 months, I wa s submitted to the Hospital . Board at its meeting yesterday. I The recommendations were adopted and application will now be made I to the Minister of Public Health | for approval. ' Thc agreement arrived at providci that a contribution of 16s per member per annum to the Wanganui Hospital Board should entitle, members to treatment at thc hospitals in the Wanganui Hospital Board’s district, free of cost, the contribution to be paid quarterly, '.i’he Council is to furnish thc Hospital Board with a complete list of contributors within 3U day s of the quarterly dates. The provisions of this agreement shall not apply in thc case of any illness or accident caused by disorderly or immoral conduct on the part of the member or dependent suffering from such illness or accident. The niedica. superintendent of the Board, and also one medical practitioner appointed by th c Association shall be the judges ot the cause of any illness or accident. Any member named in the list shall bo entitled to receive full treatment, excluding x-Ray, deep therapy and radium treatment, at the tune for sickness or accident to himself and wife, or herself and husband, or their children under the age of sixteen years, free of all cost other than tho annual contribution. Alcmbcrs shall not be entitled to treatment unless they have paid all dues and their names appear on the current quarterly lists. Tho medical superintendent, also the medical practitioner appointed by the Association shall have the right to declare any patient a chronic member after six months continuous sickness, when he shall ceas e to be a charge upon the fund to the extent of more than three months in each year buftlie member may be reinstated should tho chronic condition be certified to have ceased. No name shall appear on the contributors’ list unless contributions are paid. Contributors on entering hospital shall bp subject to hospital by-laws. Thc United Friendly Societies Hospital Association to register under thc Incorporated Societies Act.
