SHEEP DOG TRIALS The Waverlcy-Waitotara Sheep Dog Trials will be held on Miss lon’s property at Kohi on Wednesday and Thursday, April 10 and 11 1 1929. Air H, W. James, the club’s honorary secretary lias things well in hand and the entries are coming forward well up to last year’s totals and promise to be a record. Some very fine trophies and cash prizes have been donated. 3lr W. V. Alclntyre, who won Air J. J. Bourkc’s Cup, value £5, outright last year in Class I heading event, has donated a cup of the value of £8 8s for this event. Air Alclntyre is to be commended on his sportsmanlike action. A dance will be held in the Waverley Town Hall on Wednesday evening at , 8.30 under the auspices of the Sheep Dog Trial Club. A very capable com- I mil tec have been appointed to run the I trials and dance ami the public is assured of some very good sport. TENNIS AND CROQUET. The courts were closed for the season on Saturday last. During the afternoon Dr. Graves, president of the tennis club, thanked Air (Sheen fur the capable manner in which he had filled the position of secretary during the last thre 0 seasons. Mr Sheen having been transferred to Christchurch, has resigned the secretaryship. The president said Air Sheen had proved himseif a very energetic and enthusiastic secretary; he had always done his utmost for the club. Ihe season bad been a very success!ul one and the members could not let Mr Sheen go without showing their appreciation in a small measure for the services he had rendered to the club. Ihe president asked Air Sheen to tiecept, as a token of their*apprecia*ion. I an initialled leather suit case.
