AN ESTEEMED CITIZEN

THE LATE MR. A. ROBINSON. Recognition of the many public services rendered by the late. Mr Alan Robinson, and the esteem in which he was held by the community, was shown in the large attendance at the funeral yesterday afternoon. The cortege wa s one of the longest I seen in Wanganui for some years past. There wa s a particularly representative gathering of settlers from all parts of the Wanganui, Rangitikei, and South Taranaki districts, and members and officials from all local bodies also attended. The City Council was represented by the Mayor, Mr W. J. Rogers, and Mr G. March (Town Clerk), and th.e Harbour Board by Mr A. G. Bignell (chairman), and Mr VV. J. Gardner (secretary). Others present were Major Lomax, Messrs W. J. Polson, M.P., A. Webb, A. Mackintosh, D. Mackintosh, W. Swanger, R. J. Jackson, Ewen Campbell, G. Glenn, P. H. Smith, W. Bruce, J. Aiderton, F. Lomas, D. McFarlane, G. Darbyshire, J. Patterson, W. Morrison, J. Campion, J. O’Neil, W. Brown, T. Currie. G. Seddon, \V. Rankin, and Duncan. The pall-bearers were Messrs R. Russell, F. IL Allen, C. Ross, J. Morgan, D. McGregor, and R. Mitchell. The interment took place at the Aramoho cemetery, the service being conducted by the Rev. Blackburn (Anglican).
